Second year of “Victory Noll Sisters Small Grants Program” to offer $75,0000 for Catholic groups working on Laudato Si’ and synodal inspired projects
Today Catholic Climate Covenant announced the second year of its “Victory Noll Sisters Small Grants Program.” Small grants will be available to Catholic groups working on creation care, integral ecology and synodal projects, with up to $75,000 total available in 2022.
“Last year we were inspired and overwhelmed by a high level of interest from Catholic institutions across the nation and wish we could have funded more projects. Thanks to the Seelos Foundation, we are delighted to provide this new opportunity to enable U.S. parishes, schools and other institutions big and small to spread the message and do the good work of caring for our common home,” said Catholic Climate Covenant’s Executive Director Jose Aguto. “We feel blessed to respond to the call from the Catholic community that wants to care for our common home, and for our vulnerable neighbors. Both are integral and interrelated aspects of our faith.”
This year’s Victory Noll Sisters Small Grants Program is made possible through the generosity of the Seelos Foundation, donated in thanksgiving to Blessed Francis X. Seelos, C.Ss.R. (Learn more about Blessed Fr. Seelos and the cause for his canonization.) The small grants program is named after Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters who seeded the program last year in its initial phase. It is operated by Catholic Climate Covenant.
The goal in 2022 is to support projects, programs and events across U.S. Catholic communities that advance the spirit of Laudato Si’ and promote diocesan, parish and other local creation care activities including by religious communities or universities as part of the synodal process. Small grants will be available for up to $1,000 for U.S. Catholic parishes, schools, dioceses, and other U.S. Catholic organizations that apply. The deadline to apply is May 2nd, 2022. Learn more.
The 2022 Victory Noll Sisters Small Grants program will prioritize grant applications that:
- Make a connection to one (or more) of the seven goals of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
- Boost the ability of Catholic organizations and institutions to engage and participate in the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
- Help lift creation care issues within the Synod on Synodality process.
Other projects, programs, and events that will receive priority are listed in the guidelines, and include those led by youth or young adults, and those that elevate classroom instruction, environmental justice, bridge-building, liturgy, service projects, advocacy and reducing carbon emissions.
